Manoeuvring and Parking Package

Package and Module Outline:

In total, the pacage takes 5 hours tuition over a number of days.  We understand that everybody has different needs and abilities when it comes to driving, therefore we are happy to discuss and change the content and length of the package outlined below in order to tailor it to best suit your needs. 

Module 1:  Manoeuvring Theory and Understanding

30 minute presentation and discussion

By the end of the lesson the student will be able to: 

• Understand why manoeuvering is perceived to be difficult
• Describe spacial awareness and how it relates to manoeuvering
• Explain how the vehicle reacts during manoeuvres
• Understand the importance of observation during manoeuvres

Module 2:  Reversing General

30 minute in car practice and assessment

By the end of the lesson the student will be able to: 

• Reverse the vehicle safely and under control
• Demonstrate an understanding of the movement of the vehicle when reversing
• Develop awareness of the size of the vehicle in confined spaces

Module 3:  Reversing around corners and angles

1 hour in car practice and assessment

By the end of the lesson the student will be able to: 

• Reverse safely around corners to the left
• Reverse safely around corners to the right
• Reverse to the left and the right around obstacles

Module 4:  Parking in car parks

1 hour in car practice

By the end of the lesson the student will be able to: 

• Park safely in various car parks, open and multistorey
• Practically apply spacial awareness theory
• Develop awareness of the size of the vehicle in confined spaces 

Module 5:  Parking on the road

1 hour in car practice

By the end of the lesson the student will be able to: 

• Park safely and accurately at the side of the road
• Use parallel parking techniques to reverse between vehicles
• Explain the implications of parking on the road both safely and legally

Module 6:  Assessment of ability

1 hour in car practice

By the end of the lesson the student will be able to: 

• Demonstrate the abilities learned in previous modules including parking in various situations and reversing the vehicle around obstacles
