8th December 2009 - BTEC Qualification Available With Hornby Driver Training

Hornby Driver Training is to offer its learner drivers a chance to earn a Level 2 BTEC Intermediate Award in Driving Skills as they learn to drive.

We will be working with The Drivers Ed' Company to change the way people learn to drive.

The BTEC in Driving skills gives learner drivers a better understanding of the skills needed to drive a car.  The course takes learner drivers through the theory and knowledge of each aspect of how to drive a car, preparing them for the test and driving after the test.

Learners are also taught subjects which are normally covered in driving instruction.  This includes how to achieve the best cornering speed, how to drive at night and how to choos the correct gear and speed to deal with any situation.  Pupils are also introduced to the advanced driivng standard.

It's a great way of achieving more knowledge and can help with passing your theory test.

Contact us today to get your BTEC Award in Driving Skills.

21st April 2009 - Driving Standards Agency Learning to Drive consultation

Last year DSA published a Consultation Paper which set out proposals to reform the way that people learn to drive and are tested.  The report has been published and is available on the DSA website here.  This report outlines a number of ways that the DSA is looking to change and improve driver training over the next few years.

27th March 2009 - Driving Standards Agency announces changes to test fees

The Driving Standards Agency has announced the results of last autumn's consultation on its proposed driving test fee structure.  This means that from the 30th March 2009, the price for theory and practical tests will increase.

Theory tests for learner car drivers booked on or after 30th March will now be £31 (increase from £30) while practical tests for car drivers during the weekday will cost £62 (increase from £57.50) and practical tests for car drivers during the weekend or weekday evening will cost £75 (up from £67).  Despite an increase in cost, these figures are below the fee proposed during the consultation period.

DSA Chief Executive, Rosemary Thew, said "We are doing everything we can to ensure that fees remain as low as possible for our customers - particularly during the current economic climate.  Despite this, increases are necessary to cover inflation, increases in general running costs and development work."

21st June 2008 - Vehicle Safety Question Change

As of the 1st July 2008, the vehicle safety questions for the practical test are changing.  Please visit the DSA website here for further information, or click here to see a PDF of the questions the examiner will ask you.
